Basically, it's cheap to make (and buy) and looks the best on paper (good response times, good contrast ratios), but has poor colour reproduction, panel uniformity, and viewing angles compared to more expensive technologies. The easiest way to tell if you have a TN panel or not is to look at it from the bottom; if it goes very dark and the colours shift substantially, you have a TN panel.
but...if you were gaming or on the computer.....you would be looking right AT the screen... why would you be sitting on the floor looking up at your computer monitor? lol

yeah but most people don't want to shell out the money for S-IPS or PVA/MVA.
