Windows Genuine Advantage

If game developers and app programmers don't want to bother making code work on it, then why do you think Virus coders and script kiddies would want to either? It doesn't hold enough market share for anyone, even exploiters to worry about developing for it. If it took a sizeable marketshare, then people, icluding those with Mal intent would take a close look at it. Not being a target doesn't equate to better security. I have never been in a position to be shot, does this make me bulletproof?
Unix based server software and Linux operating systems account for nearly 70% of the world wide web. More than every other operating system on the planet combined and doubled. The end user may be Redmond's domain, but for over a decade Linux has ruled the internet.

PS you're reading a post from a Linux server. =)

shit I can never find anyone to show me how to work on these **** macs. I reinstalled OS9 on one of these EMacs and now every installer file is unreadable. I tried OS X.2 and even more problems. If Mac is the easiest OS as everyone says, I dont think that was ment for people that actually have to program them or troubleshoot em.

No problem guys //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I myself use a MacBook... I donthave time for viruses/spyware and all that crap. I can reboot my Mac in Windows for when I get a TermLab and things. It's got an Intel Core Duo CPU and I can run Windows natively.

Ruckus, it takes getting used to...and better to learn on a new Mac. 10.5 comes out next Spring, it'll be nice. Mac OS X is far more advanced than Windows XP, and even someone with basic knowledge can use them.

BTW, I sell my Macs before newer ones come out..they hold their value big time. I lose maybe $100 after using my Mac for a year.

xgl, *****es

if you have wga problems and don't feel like cracking

(for legit dell/hp/etc copies only //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif):

1) turn off automatic updates

2) reboot in safe moe

3) set show all folders and files and show extensions for known files

4) rename wga.dll and wgatray.exe to wga.dll.old and wgatray.exe.old, respectivly

5) reboot in normal mode, set automatic updates to "notify when updates are ready"

6) when the automatic update program says it's ready to download, select manual, browse through the updates and uncheck "windows genuine advantage tool". Then check "do not show this update again"

7) turn back on automatic updates

8) enjoy

ey good lookin' pwnt_by_pat, you made me remember about the local-auto-update thing.

I normally have the automatic updates service disabled by default and only use the web-only page 'cause you have total control. I had some activation crack installed already (locally, that is, for the past 4-5 months). I was always able to do the updates even after the WGA stuff was released (and I was of course sure to hide the WGA update permanently). I just so happened to want to do updates a couple days ago & then on the web page, says I didn't pass the WGA test.

So...the workaround is just to only enable automatic updates when you feel like it...then disable that motha.

It's the crack that you install and restart Windows and you can download updates and not get any notifications.
No viruses, I swear.
Right I understand what it's supposed to do...I meant info like, what team released it, the technical methods it uses to bypass WGA, when it was released, etc...

As long as you tell it not to install and never show the wga update, you can leave auto updates on as long as you like and never have to worry about it again. The "fix" I posted also works as many times as you'd like to use it.
