Will this work??

I am searching for a component set and amp to run. I currently have 2 JBL 10's rated at 250 watts each. I believe one 10 would have enough output for me, and this setup should improve SQ (my goal). I would like to run one 10, 4 ohm DVC, and a pair of component speakers off of this amp: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_8438_JBL+CS60.4.html

If I am reading that right, it is 2 ohm stable per channel, so I could hook it all up at a 2 ohm load, and get 145 watts to each component speaker and 290 watts to my sub from the other 2 channels. Will that work or am I completely off? Thanks for any input.

It wouldnt work like you think its going to. Unless you have two ohm components those will only see 65 watts each side. And you would have to use both subs wired in series/parallel to get max power out of the other two channels. Each sub seeing around 140 watts.

I am looking at a 2 ohm JBL Component set, mainly cause it fits the price range. I was reading, that says dynamic power, is that like max power? I am new, so this may be a stupid question. I was thinking about using 2 channels to go to the components, and using the other two both going into the same sub (getting the right rms for the sub). Will it work? I think that explains it a little better. If this will not, is there an amp that would take 250 watts rms to the sub and 100 or so to the components? Thanks a lot.

ok with 2 ohm speakers you will get the power out of the two channels. But with a dual 4 ohm sub you cant bridge it down to the lowest load. You can bridge it at 2 ohms (1 ohm nominal) but the amp probably will not be able to handle that. If I were you I would get a two channel for the fronts and a small mono block that is 2 ohm stable for the single sub.

And yes dynamic power usually means peak power.

OK, my questions have been answered, I knew that sounded to good to be true. I am still debating, I may just run the components off of the head unit, but as said I am sure an amp would help tremendously. I give up on the single amp, I will run 2. With 2 amps (one at about 400 watts, the other 200 or so), will I be ok with all my factory stuff (battery, alternator, no capicitor, etc)? Thanks.

I would get an amp for your components, definitely.

And yes depending on how old your battery and how big your factory alternator you should be ok. Install it and if there is dimming than upgrade. But I would also make sure to do the big 3 in at least 4 gauge.

If your sub was dual 2 ohm or single 4 ohm what you wanted to do would work if that helps but it still wouldnt be the 290 watts.

Yea, it is all clear now. That is the whole point, if I spend another 200 here, I dont want to have to spend any more to upgrade my car to handle it. Thanks for the help.
