Will this wood work?

I have .5 inch plywood that I could use to build my box. My dad who is building it, (a respected carpenter who has been in the business many years) says that we could use the .5 inch plywood and double it where I mount my woofer. Then we would brace the box. I said that people on here like using the .75' MDF. I have a JL 13 W7 powered by a JL 1000/1. Would I have to brace this sub from the inside somehow, also?

If it's void-free ply, I don't see why not.

I'd probably double it throughout...

You wouldn't have to with 1" walls, but bracing wouldn't be a bad idea.

I built my very first box in shop class outta .5" ply.Go for it.I wouldn't use it in the future though.

Double baffle will help where its needed.If he's willing to do it let him.
