Will this 200 MHz oscilloscope work for setting amp gains?

yep. it will be fine. you will want to pick up some oscilloscope probes, 1x and 10x.

remember that the ground lead goes to the amp chassis NOT the (-) terminal of the amp output.

It's actually a bit of overkill for car audio.. 4 channel digital. There's one on eBay for $675.

Chassis? It's not connected to anything in modern amps except power ground. The car ground isn't earth ground (AC line ground) but I always use an AC ground isolator on the scope's power cord just because.

Just got back home with it and I have operating guide/manual it came with 2 pm9020 10:1 passive probes they have a manual too

Came with a VHS fluke video not sure how I can watch that my VCR player crapped out years ago

Reading operating guide went over my head fast. I'm sure I can pick ac or dc now I understand earth ground a lil bit I think

I was not able to find a working VCR in the house

I have the two pm 9020 probes found a 3rd probe not 100% where it goes maybe that hole bottom right in pic by last probe hook up

What more do I need to make this work for me? Besides not letting o-scope frame not touching a ground In my truck what other tips y'all got? And I got the hook ground to ground input on amp not sub or speaker output part. The probs do have a ground alligator clip coming out the side on them do I use that?

Crap that's a lot of Q's sry

Yes the alligator clips on the probes is the scope ground connection. You'll only need one channel, one probe.

Describing how to use a fancy multi channel digital scope is way beyond what we can do here. I suggest getting a VCR or maybe searching for utube videos.

I set my sub amp gain with it today but I had hard time with mid/ high amp

Was dark Ill give it a try again tomorrow when I can see

Showed the curve great on the sub amp tho
