Will dynamat (or equivalent) solve my door rattles/vibrations?

Hey everyone.

I recently replaced the front door speakers in my 1999 Chevy Suburban because the old ones sounded like crap and I got a good deal on some Alpine 6.5" 2-ways from Best Buy. I took off the door panels on each door and mounted the speakers in as best as possible. I decided to test the speakers to see how clear they sounded with and without the door panels on (subs were turned off, 100% of my music was coming from the driver and passenger front doors).

Even at low volumes I can hear a very audible hum and rattle. This vibration gets more intense as the volume is turned up. I don't think it's the speakers that are distorting since I'm doing this all at relatively low volume. I have the speakers hooked up to my JVC head unit that is a few years old. It's not a great head unit but I'm doubting it's the source of the problems.

I'm assuming it's something on or in my door that is rattling/vibrating but can't really isolate the sound. Do you think that dynamat or some type of dampening material will help this problem or do you think it could be something else? I'm slightly worried that crap may have fallen inside the metal door panels from previous work done on the car. I'm going to spray a light amount of expanding foam to line the bottom of the panels to stop anything that may be loose and rattling.

If you think I should dampen my doors can you please make a recommendation as to what I should buy that will get the job done easily and won't break the bank?

Bump,

Any other opinions? Is damplifier the best stuff I can get to fix the job?

The first thing you want to do is use your hand to press on the outer skin, inner skin and anything else you can think of. If pressing on the outer or inner skins doesn't eliminate the problem, vibration damper won't either. If it doesn't, you really need to investigate the source of the rattle - if you can't find it, you can't fix it.
