Will CL-61A's Lag Here?

My setup will be a Fosgate 801s Punch amp bridged at 4Ohms 800w for a Pioneer Premier 3002SPL. I have 2 CDT CL-61A comps up front and stock speakers in the rear. I'm wondering if an amp up front is going to be needed to round out the difference between comps and the sub. Also when you have stock speakers in the rear do you guys usually just unplug them? I figure they can't be adding much to the sound.

also what gauge do you guys use to hook up components.. think I have 16 right now but would switching to 12 or 8 cause any differences?

Definitely amp them.

Was a night and day difference when I switched from HU power to an external amp.

The midbass still sucks, but I'm not going to complain about them as they were only a $150 set.

how much RMS you give them? Im thinking Ill give them 100W if i do.. also you wire from the amp to the X-overs and then from there to the speakers right? Im gonna need lots of wire.... should I put the crossovers in my trunk? they never liked being in my doorpanels.. too many drunk people slam my doors

Roughly somewhere between 60-75 watts.

100 should be plenty to get them screaming.

And you're correct with the wiring --- amp --> crossovers --> speakers.

You can mount your crossovers in your trunk - it's just that much more wiring.

Perhaps you can sercure them in your doors better, or possibly mount them somewhere else like behind a kick panel or under your dash.
