by settings you mean the gain? on ur single w6 how far do u have ur gain half way ?

a type X is 1000RMs will solve all my problems but same price as two w3v2's but 600rms total

Where you gain is set depends on the voltage output of your headunit, gain is not a volume control. And just because the type X can handle 1000 watts, that doesn't mean that it will be louder than 2 10W3s.

i know it depends on the deck but volume control ? obviosly it has to be in a decent range for me to hear the shit

well what would you do

u have a 1000rms you want some good hard hitting bass that make your heart beat skip

you can choose type X single 10'' or single 12''

or two 10'' w3v2's

I don't mean the deck volume, I mean the voltage output of your headunit, if your deck has a 2v preout, then your gain will be set higher than it would be if you had a 4v preout.

I had a 1000/1 on 2 w3,s for 3 plus years without any problems except that the amp started acting up about 6 months ago.

It was a 4 ohm load ,and still is but the low impedence light comes on ,and the amp completely quits.

The next drive it may work perfect the entire time.

I actually pulled that amp out today ,and replaced it with a JL E1400D ( I know a step down ) , but its actually doing alot better than I thought.

Any ideas on the on what might be wrong with my 1000/1?

I picked up a pair of 10w3v2s very cheap from a friend of mine for $90. If I had paid retail for them, I would have been extremely pіssed off because I don't like them!

I am going to try them in a ported box this weekend since sealed sucked big time. I am not expecting any jaw dropping improvements though. I heard a single 10w3v3 in a ported box, and sadly, I was not impressed with it either.

Then again, on a more positive note. These "sub" woofers produce some of the cleanest sounding midbass that I have ever heard!

Are you stuck on a jl audio 1000/1 because I can get you a deal on a arc audio ks 1000.1 if your interested. Woofersetc.com wants $549 for it. I can get it considerably cheaper than that. It's just as good of an amp if not better than the jl amp.

Quite. If you F up the gains, you can blow just about anything, but if you keep them correct, you can run just about anything on it.

Like, I blew two JL 12w3's with a kicker zx750.1, because I didn't pay attention to how they were wired, had a shitty box, and then had the gains nearly maxed out along with bass boost.
