As stated by someone else earlier in this thread yes Combat arms specialists IE Infantry, 03 field in MY beloved Corps, Yes are trained to kill. However, they also go through more extensive rules of engagement training etc, than i would care to ever think about. Every Marine is a Rifleman. So technically i guess you could say we were all trained to kill, however, we are ALL trained simply to follow orders. Note: the decision to pull the trigger was not made by the individual carrying the weapon. He simply followed the order to fire. The order came down the chain of command, for example, lets take a sniper. sniper is ordered to go find his spot and "get eyes" on his target. The president or congress may or may not know about this target. let say he does. the order comes directly from the Commander in Chief, Goes through the Generals of the Joint Chiefs, Gets passed to The Commander of the Theater, then goes to the OIC of that section, gets passed over radio many times until the sniper team recieves the command of fire and the sniper will squeeze the trigger and th ebullet is sent on its way. You see The sniper had NOTHING to do in the decision process. All that individual does is follow the orders he is given.
