Why is my friend's RF P3 so loud?

I never thought reg cabs were easier to get loud in than trunk cars. I remember having a pair of 12'' kappa perfects in my ranger and my friend also had a pair in his grand am and his was so much louder than mine...both setups were powered by 500w amps. I just got metered yesterday and my truck did a 142 on music with a single 10'' and 1500w, I don't think that's too hard to do in a trunk car.

its a tiny pickup truck, easy to pressurize
In my Nissan Titan king cab, I've tried my Alpine SWS-1043D 10" sub in its 1.0 cu-ft sealed sub box:

- Sitting on the rear seat, sub facing forward

- Sitting on the rear seat, sub facing up

- Sitting on the floor, sub facing up ... WOE

By far ... on the floor facing up, with only enough room for about 2/3 of the woofer to peak past the rear seat bottom that hovers over it is the best sound to me. It pounds bass into the bottom and back of my driver's seat, so I can hear it very well and feel it.

With the sub up on the rear seat, it never had nearly the impact. Sounded good, just fine, but on the floor it sounds great!

I wonder if the padded seating and carpet all around it when it's on the floor is acting as some sort of big, ported, poly-filled box?
