because i could never get near the as scores in a trunk esp with a musical setup:crap:

Tell them to show up to a MECA event and prove themselves //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

well that should give you a reason to compete, to show them how your score is better with half the "wattz" dey gotz. I seen too many people this last bassrace come up there with 2 18"s walled, 4 15"s AND 2 12"s in same box (audipipes and L7's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif), 6 12"s walled, all barely break 130 srsly. it was funnay

Check the MECA calender for shows in your area. We'll be adding more as the year goes on.

We've even got one in the Virgin Islands //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

Its going to be hard to drive my Jeep to that one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
thats sad.... in the virgin islands but not even in texas?

theres a severe lack of shows in my neck of the woods, but thats not the main reason.
i've been to a few comps all over the south before, and i really didnt like the attitudes most competitors have. im not sure if its just a regional thing, but im sick of guys who really have no knowlege of theory or application when it comes to audio, just that "da 18s beat on da jeezy". the problem is that they are correct. you CAN win comps by having a shop throw a couple 18s in a huge box with a ghetto-rigged sony amp and get loud...louder than me...and have absolutly no idea why. you can't carry on a reasonable conversation with someone like that, and when they give you advice ("cerwin vega is dat loud shit..get 8 of dose w/ them new 5000 watt JLs. my cuz broke all hiz winduh wid it"), you cant refute because they have been awarded and you have not. straying away from audio talk just leads to talk of ***, booze, and smoke...which is great and all when im not trying to gain/share knowledge pertinant to the event.

two notes:

*i am not butthurt by loosing. my system is very loud and sounds great, and if someone doesnt like it thats thier perogative

*any slang dialect above is not meant to be racist. most of those guys are rich white dudes. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
I will quote this forever. More white kids talk like than blacks....Finally someone noticed besides me.

Actually last month I was about to get transfered to San Antonio and then there would of been a MECA judge in Texas - but alas I was shipped off to Tennessee instead.

To my knowledge, no one from the state has stepped up to do a MECA event there. It takes about $500 to do a 2x event (which covers judge pay & trophies, typically)

Im in the DFW area... Usaci just moved in to i expect (as long as the car audio scene stays somewhat popular) that in the next 2 years it will blow up here.... hopefully DBdrag.... Meca along with Usaci.

$500 for the event isnt bad. it would just take a dedicated person to run shows consistantly for folks to show.

there's a guy in Texarkana that's gonna try MECA, I THINK, this coming season.

OP, I compete:p:

Yes Texas has mostly been Usaci territory, and $500 is for the event...you can definately make more money than just breakiing even at an event if you promote it well and lots of folks show up.

It's a little of everything. I mean last year I just wanted a little system. THis year I wanted a better system. What I have now couldn't even break 140 on TommyK's TL, but I'm happy with it. I don't play my music at full tilt and it suits my needs. THere are some more things I could do to get louder, but I'd rather do it in another car.
