Probably because car audio has gotten so mainstream, people do it just to be cool, and really aren't interested in stereos. It's all about flash and what looks good, not the performance.
I started competing this year because I love audio, and love trying to get loud. 99% of the people who have subs in their cars don't even know the model number, or know what kind of power their amp REALLY puts out.

honestly this times 5000000000. Can anyone sayi tm ore perfect.

Dont have a reliable car to make it to shows. Some are kinda far away and whit a gas guzzler i hate driving long distances. I feel inferior to people who have twice as much shit in there car and have been doing it for years. Money, not much around these days. Time, always busy with school sports and life as an 18 year old. Age, just that being 18 i feel too young to be out there, i dont know as much as other but you gotta learn some how.

I'm sure in the years to come i will get back into it. With College starting next year ill be out for a few years until i get my feet on the ground with a job and livin life not scrappin for a dollar as a broke student.

Just my $.02

You don't need a lot of money to compete. Sure, if you want to win national events and world finals you'll need a good amount of money(or very generous sponsors). But you can roll up with your current equipment at any show and have a good time doing either spl, sq, or bassrace type competitions. I go more for the opportunity to hang out with people who really appreciate car audio, since none of my local friends are into it...I made a lot of friends this season and I'm very thankful for that.

True, Around here alot of places go by amp wattage. 0-500, 501-1000, 1001 and up.

I've seen sony explodes win first place trophy's. One time there wasn't enough people in class one so a guy who didn't have a system got a nice trophy just ftom slamming his door. The stock speakers wouldn't register on the mic lol.

If you want to do more than burps, it might //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif. dont get me wrong, the scores you have posted up are great i mean i wouldnt come near to those numbers because i dont have the knowledge and the "trial and error" that one learns along the way. but 150+db for 30seconds or more and staying above 12volts the whole time takes a little bit of money. i only have about $1500-$2000 total in actual "equipment" though, so its much less expensive than other hobbies.

but in all reality, the more skilled you are the less equipment you need cause you can design the whole layout of the box/tuning/car differently than a n00b. Im still learnin, but its fun have a loud daily that still beats some "competition" (//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif) systems that I've went up against.

And I did that score with a "measely" 1500 watt amp and in a "not the right vehicle" 4-door truck...below the window line. It doesn't really take much to get loud. Enclosure is everything...

I'll be doing streetbeat with 8 Mach 5 IXL 10's and a pair of Sundown 3000D's next season...might make my truck a streetbeater too with a couple of 21" Death Penalties. It'll be an interesting year, that's for sure. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/sneaky.gif.7189749b3a3f769e8815b47e8ae87f88.gif

i spend to much money on collecting amps.........i am addicted to car amps...not speakers, not cd players, etc......but just straight car amps......i have a problem and i dont know how to kick the habit...........but at least im honest about it......//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Ive been to a couple events. Started gaining an interest in competing myself last year, but due to the lack of events in my state I missed out.

Hopefully within the next year I can get my S-10 together. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Then maybe Ill head to some shows with it.
