Some others and myself are trying to figure out some new classes for the beginner/ average consumer to help bring car audio competition back to it's former glory. We are trying to figure out why people aren't competing like they used to and why we aren't getting a bigger number of new competitors. I know many still do compete so this isn't directed at those that do, but the less experienced guys. Feel free to post comments aside from voting. Let us know what would get you into competing or what is keeping you from competing.

Thanks in advance for your replies and comments. Hopefully we can work something out to make competing accessable to everyone who is interested.

Probably because car audio has gotten so mainstream, people do it just to be cool, and really aren't interested in stereos. It's all about flash and what looks good, not the performance.

I started competing this year because I love audio, and love trying to get loud. 99% of the people who have subs in their cars don't even know the model number, or know what kind of power their amp REALLY puts out.

money, and time. i'll compete if im at a show that has a bass comp, but i dont really go out of my way to go to one usually, unless i have the free time too.

I just give up. if i dont have KICKERZ or RRRRR'z, they dont really care too much about the "performance"

not enough events around me locally, and when there are i usually wouldn't qualify cause iirc they're for the heavy hitters...

Id personally love to see some more new competitors at the shows . Type Rs may not get the #s to compete but in Bassrace or SQ it isnt how loud your stereo gets , its all about control ! Just as Tommy K .....................The true competitors help out the sport by giving a hand to the newer competitors , in Wi we have a great # of veteran competitors that are helpful at all shows !

Money and time probally my main reason. I really never wanted to, I see it more as a hobby than anything else. Their cool to go to or whatever to look and talk. It seems only at comps I talk to someone with knowledge outside of Kickers and Xplodes
