Why can't I call....

That just describes the word in general. Its use should have ended with slavery itself but instead African Americans chose to use an very derogatory comment as a salutation...I just dont get it. And what most people, white, black, whatever, dont understand, what the ACTUAL meaning of that word is...
You're an idiot if you think it was blacks who kept the word in use... thats why you dont get it. It was whites who continued to use it to talk down on blacks throughout reconstruction and through the civil rights movement- even today. The reason blacks adopted it is to gain power over the word they have been suffering from so long, if they use it themselves, it loses alot of its hurtfulness.

Racism of the ignorant... it goes on alot more than knowingly being racist.

Cracker really isnt that bad...BECAUSE there is no meaning to the word...where did it start from? When did it start...nobody knows, and nobody cares....
When did the N word start, and what is the HISTORY of the word, and what it means.......THAT my friend is the difference, and THAT is why African Americans (the ones who care about their history) are offended by the word....

I dont give a flying shit if someone calls me a cracker (unless I dont know the history of it) cause it has absolutely no meaning or history...i dont believe....if im wrong, prove me wrong.
it comes slave days reffering to the 'crack' of a whip... a 'whip cracker' //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif learn something

I mean think about that though.....so now since they want to "adopt" the word....only they can use it....even though they didnt start it.....hmmmmmm, then they want the rest of races to stop using it....thats a COMPLETE 180...

If they want to use it....everyone should be able to with out them getting defended...which wouldnt make sence at all would it...so therefor, dont use it at all or WTF do you think is gonna happen

as far as the whip cracker is where the work "cracker" came from....alright if thats where it came from I didnt know that....I always hear the word being used with comedy...in which case the word "Saltines" often comes up

to post above...EXACTLY!!!!!!!

If the word n!gger is so offensive because of its history, listen to rap nowadays. every other word is n!gga. Here is "throw it up" by lil john. notice how many times he says n!gga? he says it even more in the intro.

IT IS BECAUSE OF THE HISTORY!!

AND LIL JON IS NO EXCEPTION TO THE PROBLEM!! WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY.?? I GAURANTEE YOU IF SOMEONE LIL JON DIDNT KNOW CAME UP TO HIM AND CALLED HIM ONE HE WOULD BE OFFENDED..DONT YOU THINK

I have thought about it, I've taken classes in african american studies. Its not like black people collectively got together in a meeting and said "lets take their word and we can say it, but nobody else can", to use that word themselves was one way they were fighting against the word. I agree these days it is used to be "cool" because black kids look up to rappers as rolemodels and hear them saying it all the time, but its important to know the history of it. If other races are educated in it, its not a problem not to use it, this isnt a "if you can say it I can say it" thing, its a respect thing.

but unfortunately thats how society is...if they can do it, we can do it....and if its a respect thing, for those who care..WHICH SHOULD BE ESPECIALLY THEM!!! they wouldnt use it.

As long as the earth rotates around the sun.....thats how society will be...they say it, then we can say it

exactly, I'm frankly surprised that these kids dont understand what the word means and why black people use it. While I dont think its right for rappers, who are rolemodels, to use it (because of dumbass kids like jmanpc), its not an excuse to think they dont care about it. FYI, MANY responsible black rappers dont use the n word for that very reason..
