why audiobahn?

Originally posted by mstrblk what do people have against audiobahn, i have a pair of 12's, and a set of components up front, and they sound fine, nothing magical, i was just wondering what people have against them
Firstly- they need to concentrate on putting more money into R&D to produce a better speaker instead of just Chroming everything.

- anyone care to dispute this?

Otherwise, I have had a few reliability issues with thier products overall. Amplifier and speaker failure a little too often, as well as general poor sound quality and response from thier speakers.

I and a few friends that have used them seem to have the same issues with them.

Other than that, they are making progress in improving thier line up. Within a few more years, these issues should be resolved.

I think that the main thing is when some try to make comparrisons between Audiobahn and higher end gear- such as Eclipse, JL Audio, Infinity- etc. Basically it is a right of way matter. As Audiobahn has not been arround as long as some of these other manufacturers- thus does not have the same track record, success stories- etc.

Time will correct that I am sure....

take it easy,

They have come a long way though, I am impressed with the SPl they are capable of, but SQ is very poor. I would like to see them work on the SQ side of things. Other than that, they are pretty affordable, and if you like them and have no problems with them, then ups to you.

I agree with Phatillusion on this one. Zane, I have figured out why Audiobahn chromes everything. Have you ever heard of the import car accessory company Ichibahn? I found that they were kind of the same company and that they pretty much chrome everything.

they crome everything because it looks cool. It makes it look like some muscle machine, a local car audio store here sells them by looks. If someone goes do they hit hard, he goes look at those(AW1000Q,1200Q,1500Q) and they're like yeah, you're right. It's just another way to sell them

hmmm, i see, i used to have a pair of 10w6's and i really did notice a dramatic difference in sq, but also a bg jump in spl, which is what i was after, so i though, after a little while i realised the w6's used far less power (~600w vs 1200w) and sounded so much better, i think i will try o sell my amp and subs and get another pair of w6's, i also like a few other subs, but for the money it seems JL is the best deal, at arounf 250 for a 12, any ideas on where to get then (my local store is way overpriced) or any other ideas for subs would be appreciated

I like the look of many subs without chrome Alpines, Infinity, JL, Rockford, Kicker they all look good it is just the subs like say the spl monsters dd idmax and stuff like that they arent lookers.

i agree, the chrome is kinda out of place, i got rid of my pioneer because i thought it was to flashy, and with subs i think the chrome would help to keep heat in , reducing the life of the sub, i could be wrong about that though
