why 2 strand of 1/0?

When you start moving large amounts of current the chassis might have more resistance than a strand of 1/0. Once you start moving this much current its better to have 1 pos for every 1 neg strand of 1/0. Even just 1 pos 1 neg is enough for daily bumping with as much as 3kw-4kw IMO. Apparently once you start getting into the more competitive bass realm you want a minimum of 4 pos 4 neg to even see up to a 1dB difference on burps. some people do as much as 10 pos 10 neg and on burps it makes the difference.

 
9 times out of 10 a FRAME ground is just as good as running a ground back to the front.

The actual testing I've come across was from 3 different sources...

JL who claimed a car's chassis averages around 4 ga copper - with no real test documentation.

Esoteric Audio who sells a LOT of wire and had a LOT of test data came up with around 1/0.

An engineer who used to frequent carsound had quite a bit of test data that said 1/0-2/0.

So if you go by JL's recommendation you're pushing the limits of your chassis ground if you're pushing the limits of 4 ga pwr wire. If yo
