I worked on an 84

and I had to take the dash apart to get the lights working on my gauges again

the cable thats hooked to the speedometer does that screw on or can i pull it off to remove the gauge???

you need to push it towards the gauges, then there is a spring clip you press to release it. If you feel around up there you can feel the tab of the spring clip. Push the cable in, push down on clip, then pull off.
