The LOUDEST systems I have ever seen have all used 10's and 12's, so I would have to say no. But for the novice its hard to beat 15's for spl.

but see a true car audio man can take a 15" and make it outhit a single or dual 12" setup and then hit cleaner now that takes SERIOUS skill. i've heard it done a couple of times and i was impressed.

keep it thumpin,

adam

TAKES MORE 12'S AND 10'S TO ACHIEVE SAME RESULT...LOUDEST I HEARD PERSONALLY WAS CHRIS NORRIS'S VAN WITH THE 15" SHOCKERS THAT WAS 172-173ISH AND WAS A WORLD CHAMPION RECORD HOLDER.

You all talk about how much better a 15" can do as far as SPL, but what about everyday listening. I would prefer a couple 10's or 12's, preferably 10's. I don't know about you all, but the air pressure from a 15 is a little bit too much to deal with day in and day out.

all in set up. theere be many a legendary system that used 15's or larger and they are well woven into the "greatest systems ever" as far as PURE sq goes. to tell you the truth compared to the day i would say cars generally sound worse now than they used to

Me thinks someone is a little obsessed with 15's, lol.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

A properly setup 15" woofer will have just as much authoritative response as a 12", with a lower end. Sound quality can remain ideal, if not be increased. It falls back on the installation.

A friend of mine was talking about a woofer his father has, the Hartley 224HS 24" magnetic suspension woofer, and has noted it is one of the cleanest and deepest sounding woofers he has EVER listened to...

well....then how do i install it to sound that good?? i definately wanna build my own box, but i'm not sure if i can install it because this is gonna be my first system and all

I think sealed boxes are really good. They give SQ and that Deep SPL u need. This will give u a nice sounding system. IF u want to woop some ***, and kill alot of 12's and 10's, Then port it. Over All, 15"s Will Dominate!

but how do i make a ported box? I was looking at some of the boxes at like virtual technologies.com or something, and to me it looked like a sealed box with two large slits at the front. is it really that easy?

Thats It. Just a Big Sealed box with a Slot or round ports. Ask jlaine about the Brahmas, he sells them. He could tell u how big of a box to build, and what size port(s)
