i have been just not for car audio... but for Counter strike //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif paid me money //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif to play
Lies.

I know im young and still have a lot to learn but I plan to start on a big project within the next few months and a sponsor would really help me out (whether its for wires, alt, batteries, anything would pretty much help).

lol when pigs fly lol You first have to invest the money build a winning system compete and then win. Once you get known then sponsors will come.

Just the idea that because you want to build a nice sytem and figure if you get sponsored it would help pay for it...lol you just made my night dude.

Think I'll get me a sponsor too.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

for 2005 i was sponsored by .......

(huge discount)

Kinetik power

Ohio Gen.

Shocker audio

(full ride)

Orion

DEI

i must say thank you to everyone of these people as with out them i wouldnt have done as good at finals and taken 4th place......

lets see what 2006 has in store as i dont belive i will have any sponsor help this year.

I have been trying to get a hold of some one from Kicker since I used to own some of their products and next setup might be a whole Kicker setup (if they can give me a deal on some new ZX2500.1s). Every car show that I attended I won in my class. I have attended most of the shows in my area since the Lowrider show in 2005. I have only missed one show which was the Lowrider show this year because I was told there wasn't no SPL.
When they say "win competitions"....they don't mean local comps. They mean win (or place highly at) World Finals of the major competition organizations (DBDrag, MECA, IDBL, etc), preferrably multiple times.

Unless you've been to world finals as a competitor, and proved your worthyness by placing highly at world finals (more than once)....don't even think a sponsor is going to give you a 2nd glance. Not trying to discourage you, just being realistic. Manfacturer's don't sponsor people to hit local shows, they sponsor them to win major national events using their equipment, to obtain magazine coverage, etc etc.

I was sponsered at one point... but after learning that the shop was totally retareded and knew less then I did... I told them to find someone else.

It was like having the special olympics sponser you

This won't really apply to methods used today to get sponsorships since it is from back in the days of 98-99 etc when things were kind-of just getting started with the "Big Woofer" age. My avatar shows less than half of the amps that Memphis gave us. In total they sent us 130 1000d's. When we had tri-coils we had 6 amplifiers on each sub totalling 42 amplifiers for the subwoofer system. We got mad magazine coverage for them as well as used for ad purposes. They sent wire as well, tons of it. We were sponsored by Optima and given 42 YT's. Even our windshield replacement guy gave us his cost on windshields. We just won USACi finals with the CRX a while back with Crossfire amps and Memphis was in an all out war with Crossfire with the nearly identical ChungLam amps. We told them what we were going to build and they said we'll throw amps and wire at you. They wanted to throw subs in but we opted to pay for DDs. 2.25 years and 98 windshields later the suburban was disassembled and sold. We never had to pay Memphis or Optima a dime for the products. It took winning in a big way and an image that the companies liked. Today, it has faded...what the win means in terms of advertising value. It's mainly because there are so many smaller specialty companies that can tailor to the SPL crowd, most of which do sponsor people. But they don't advertise or can't advertise in a big way like the major manufacturers. That is another reason why the big dogs have stopped supporting World Finals of dB Drag and IASCA. It's much easier and less stressful just building their cars rather than operating them. Also more fun.....to me. As said above, if you win something big, by putting in tons of time and your own money, you may catch the eye of a company that is looking for a marketing tool. If you try it with a GEO, don't count on much happening. If I were to try it again, I'd aim at companies that have deep pockets and have really really agressive marketing strategies. Companies that have NOTHING to do with car audio. Rims, Tires, Superchargers, Paint products, Appearance accessories, etc. I wish you good luck in your efforts though, you never really know. Making pals with editors don't hurt either! If you have specific questions, just PM me and I'll help if I can.

You didn't discourage me man...actually motivated me in a way to want to get my setup under way.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

see if you can't get sponsored by slapping "brokeback mountain" all over your car

That is sig worthy there, lol!

I was sponsered by a shop not company. Means I got good deals on equipment and went to a shitton local db events and either won overall or always did well, minus that one time, lol!

Never made it to the big time. I had a lot of local coverage on my cutlass, hence why it probably was stolen.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Had a MTX rep look at my ride as I was using almost all MTX and said he would call me after he talked to his boss. Never called. Didnt matter cause car was stolen 3 weeks after I talked to him.

Shit is starting to make sense why it was stolen, you think?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

There are tons of savvy thieves out there and I firmly believe that you can only make the job hard for them; that you cannot keep them from stealing from you want they want if they want it more than you. I had a Civic EX back on the 5th and early 6th of September, 2001. It was crammed with stuff on the inside, just had a few ques on the outside that separated it from a stock civic. It had rims, tires, front facia and body colored rocker skirts and tag trim panel and a spoiler and was lowered with -2.5" kit. Platinum plus window tint, even on the windshield. I showed up in town to check in at the job location I would be going to the following day. After checking in to a hotel, I parked the car and took in my clothes. Late that night, the car was ripped to the bones in the parking lot spot where I parked it....directly under my window. The car had a Clifford IntelliQ 700 on it and was most certainly armed. It never went off.

List of stolen items: both doors, hood, front facia, rear bumper, seats, plug wires, ignition box and coils, turbocharger, header and blow off valve, intercooler and piping, inline fuel pump, valve cover, intake manifold with injectors and throttle body, exhaust system, side skirts, tail and headlights, rear deck lid with spoiler, A-pillars, kick panels, steering wheel, in-dash TV/receiver, amplifiers and subwoofers with integrated amp rack and enclosure. That had to be destroyed because it was all one molded piece of fiberglass that went THROUGH the spare tire holding mount in the trunk floor. Headliner and rear deck cover were gone also. It was a rolling chassis with carpet, glass, dynamat and short block. This was all done between the time I went to bed at about 11pm and woke up around 7am. The system was never played louder than maybe 95dB since I had left on my trip to move there. Your missing vehicle may have been partially your fault, but it's definitely not 100% your fault. Cheer up, get another car you want even more!
