I'd use 30-06 for deer... that's what I have... it's that or a shotty... as for elk I'd use it too.. for Moose and bear I'd use a 105mm howitzer, get the whole herd at once... you'd also save time quartering the beasts

It's what I do all fall, bow and gun for deer. I also bear hunt. Pheasants once in a while too. I'll head out for coyotes too if I'm bored.

hell yeah....30-06, 308, or a 12 gauge for me......7MM for anything bigger....dont get to hunt that often anymore though since i live in a city now.

as of right now my back yard has 4 crows, 1 skunk, 1 raccoon, 1 opossum, a fox and 3 squirrels from last week or so. shot those w. a 22 mag.(raise a couple ducks so we get those wanderers around all the time) and a woodchuck from last summer in one of the fields, didnt pick that up because I shot that one with a 30-06 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif blew the thing right in half(looked like this http://dogbegone.com/ )....also I have a 55 acre "back yard" so its not as nasty as it may seem

Wow, that prarie dog site is pretty sweet.

We used to do the same thing with pigeons around here. They crap all over the hay and ruin it.

For real hunting I use a 12 guage browning for deer. And a bolt action .22 cal. browning for squirels/pigeons. Light Twenty 20 guage browning for coyotes.
