My pizza is usually already sliced but honestly, I use my Kershaw pocket knife to cut just about anything.

It gets cleaned when I wipe it off .

That's a good point about a dog's mouth. Owning a dog + sitting your plate on the floor when you are done eating = never having to do the dishes again.
