Honestly...and this is my opinion...
If the hippie naturalist fegs would get over themselves and see the benefit of nuclear power we would have PLENTY of energy. I remember reading that we only are utilizing around 10-15% of the energy they are able to produce. Build a few more and let them run at a decent capacity and we could power the nation efficiently and cost effectively.
Very, very true. In my perception of it people would love to have/ use nuclear energy but when they go to build one no one wants them near there house. All they think of is Three mile Island, Chernoble and things like that. Nuclear is probally one of the best bets. Hell it can power an aircraft carrier for what? 50years without refueling.

Solar panels are expensive because they are not mas produced. So do you think society will do this on their own?
I actually hope gas hits 6, maybe 7 bucks a gallon.... ONLY to force us into action. As long as gas is cheap, we will never change the way we do business. When gas hits a price that pains us, we will make changes.

Solar would be cheap if it were used on a large scale.

Hell, i can remember 500 dollar VCRs 25 years ago.

I remember 500 dollar dvd players when they first came out. Now you can get one for 20 bucks.

HD tvs that i paid almost 4k for are under 2k now. Prices will always drop when the itema are mass produced. There is not a need to mass produce solar as long as there are other cheaper sources of energy.

I want govt involved to speed up the process. You think restraunts and bars would have stopped smoking inside on their own? hell no, it was govt that mandated a change.

You think new home makers will put on solar panels if they dont think it will make them a buck? if all home makers were MANDATED to use solar panels, it wouldnt hurt any of them, as ALL new homes would have them and people wouldnt have to make a choice.
tis true but people get a little pissed when good ole' uncle sam "makes" them do things and spend moneyz

I grew about 15 miles from an nuclear energy plant. Seems pretty safe to me.

This coming from a guy who resorts to name calling at the beginning of almost every post.
Keep posting, you keep me entertained.
not really every post, but i have at times - but they did it first so it makes it all right for me to do it (that mentalilty should be a sufficient enough excuse)

During undergrad research for a paper 11 years ago, an article stated that $2.00 a gallon was the magic number for alternative fuel sources to take front stage. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

The only problem France, in particular, is facing is the management of the nuclear waste. Most of it is low-level waste and they recycle this for more fuel; however, this is an expensive process and still not all waste can be accounted for.

I love nuclear power and think it is definitely the future, as long as we can develop viable methods of nuclear waste management.

Locally, my province has been discussing the possibility of using nuclear power (which would be logical since we are the largest uranium producer in the world). There are a lot of mixed opinions, although most of the detractors are relatively uninformed and cite Chernobyl as a reason that nuclear power is not a wise decision. Of course, they forget situational factors and the advance in nuclear technology since 1986.....

it should read when gas hits a price that pains the RICH AND WEALTHY, only then will they make a change. It is all ready crippling the lower/middle class people.
