Which To Get?

Sorry, but here is another opinion asking thread ...

So I am ditching Kicker and upgrading to something better, but I'm not sure which would be better. I am considering 3 options, each of which will be pushed by an MB Quart Onyx 1000.1 running at 1 ohm until I can either upgrade that or buy a 2nd one. Also, they will be in pre-fab boxes until I can build a better one. Lastly, I prefer SPL over SQ but would like a decent mixture of both.

1) 2 Alpine Type-R 12's - I've always kinda had a want for these after hearing one in an audio store. They will be a little under powered as they are rated at 600w RMS each. They will also be the cheapest option, but not by much.

2) 2 RE Audio SE X 12's - Seen several builds with RE subs and everyone seems to be happy with them. Again, a little under powered, but just temporarily.

3) 1 RE Audio SXX 15 - Probably the one in currently leaning more towards. It's rated at 1000w RMS so I wouldn't need a new or additional amp.

So what do you guys think? Also, if you have any other suggestions that are in the $350-$400 range feel free to throw it out there.

Electrical is stock alt and batt with big 3 upgrade.

Ive heard the new RE stuff is crap.

Ide say do with a pair of SSA Dcon 12s, pair of sundown SD12s or a sundown SA15

You can do better then type-r in that price range, from what i hear they get loud but dont sound to fantastic

Guess I didn't realize the newer stuff wasn't up to par. And I completely forgot about Subdown when I was looking/pricing. I'll check them out.

The Alpines were cheaper than the price range I listed. Just considering them because I liked what I heard at the shop.

Yea thats what alot of people have told me on here. Also DCs new line is out, there lvl 2 15' would fit ure power, i think there like 200-250

If those are your only choice, I would go with the type R's. I had 2 10" R's and 2 12" R's and I really enjoyed them while I had them.

Plenty of people are happy with RE SE/X subs. Don't mock them until you hear them. However, I would have pick up the Alpine Type-R because it's a slightly newer kind of design, with a shorting ring and a patented surround. Another interesting option is to buy one Image Dynamics IDMAX 12D2. These reportedly get very loud, but still have good SQ when you need it.

Those aren't my only choices, they were just my top 3 at the time.
