its easily done using an o-scope, but otherwise, just listen. if your speakers are already running off an amp, just set the gain to a good output, (like 1/4-1/2 way) unless you have high pre outs, and turn up the hu till it starts to distort, then back off a notch or 2. that will be your max volume setting. then when you set the gains to your amps, set the hu to that volume and slowly turn up the gains to match your calculated output voltage of each amp. if done right, its a sure way of knowing theres no clipping the signal through out the signal chain, as long as you dont turn the hu past its clipping point.
