I have Diamond Audio D51200.1 amp in my car to go along with 2 Diamond Audio D612D2. Also have a batcap 400. Everything sounds great with no interior light dimming. But at high bass levels my headlights dim alot. I was also thinking about spending the money on a yellow top battery to help this problem out. I also wanted to get tinted windows really bad. My question to u is should i spend 160.00 for a yellow top battery or spend 150.00 and get my Vw Gti Tinted?

Tint the windows, I dont see a yellow top stopping the Dimming. Now if you werer to go for an HO alternator, that would be the wise choice.

Buy a Optima red top and upgrade your big 3 to 1/0 guage. Also insure you are running 1/0 guage for the amps power and ground.

Then tint your windows.

Where can i get a high output alternator for a Vw Gti all the websites listed on here are not for my car.

It's not. It is a dry cell starting battery. You don't need a deep cycle under the hood, unless you plan on using your stereo while the car is off for an extended period of time. Or plan to not operate the vehicle for a long time. Deep cycles are able to be fully discharged with out damaging the batteries life cycle.

Competitors also use deep cycles where current draw is high.

And you will want to buy a HO alt as a last measure for voltage problems. They are the most expensive of the things you could do to remedy the problem. Try the things I listed. Then if voltage problems still occur look in to an upgraded alt.

well guys i looked all day to find somebody that makes a high output alternator for my 2003 Vw Gti 1.8t and NOBODY makes them not even Bosch! So i decided to get the Optima Yellow top and it really works. No dimming what so ever even at high bass levels. Would have went with windows and played the system during the day lol! I understand about the dimming thing though as I get it bad at high volumes as well. My cap goes all the way down to 11.8 sometimes and I am running 1/0g. Guess it is time to do the alt.

Good choice. Now you have a battery that will give you long life and the ability to run your audio with the car off. So now that the dimming has gone away you can tint your windows. You're lucky where you live, you can tint your windows. In Michigan its illegal on the front side windows unless you have a strip that isn't tinted so the cops can see in if they pull you over. A window tinted like that looks like *** so I didn't bother.

Yep, both sides. that sucks too. I figure when I get my new car I'm going to smoke them anyway. It won't really be a daily driver anyway so when I drive it will be when the weather is nice enough to have the windows down.
