Which of these 12" IB/free-air subwoofers should I buy?

total waste to put it into the rear shelf imo, you'll hear more rattles than bass I reackon. maybe look into building a box into the bottom side of the shelf in the boot. whats the reason your going in this direction rather than a decent sub in a ported box in the boot?

single sub = less cone area for ib wich requires either more cone area or more movment of the cone

a long throw sub will displace more air = the feeling of more bass from a single ib 12

i was gona do the same thing you are thinking - but decided to trunk baffle a pair of 18s instead.

i ended up with a 12" tc sounds 3k subwoofer but never got to ib it yet - and probably wont now

I would go with the FI. But why are you going IB? A single 12 on that kind of power won't have very much output.
This is my first complete overhaul. Later on I will probably upgrade, but for now I am keeping it simple..and cheap..by just switching out my stock for a better set. Switching out from stock to anything else at this this point is going to be a huge upgrade in itself.
But I'd still like to get the most for my money

We'll see. Thank you for your input. It's not too big of an investment for me to put down $100 to give this a shot. And there are many others in the "cult" of IB that would beg to differ with your matter of opinion on what's best

yeah maybe i'll do this after lol

IB is for more of the sq oriented crowd. It gives you a very flat response that can go very low. Into the teens low. But as stated above, typically you need more come area. Most guys that run IB will do either 2 15's or 2 18's from what I've seen.

Are running this off the stock amp that was running the stock sub?
