1. You can, but I highly recommend going MDF instead of cheap plastic. It'll make a difference in the SQ. 2. I've got my xovers under the seats for right now. They'll be moved to the trunk at some point in my life. 3. I didn't do the tear down of my car myself. I left that up to a local and renown shop. 4. If you do the install correctly, then yours will be sounding just as good. Mine are running off channels 1+2 of an Infinity 7541a amp (rated 111W RMS per channel @ 4 Ohms). 1. Take some time and familiarize yourself with the Type X passive xovers and what the owner's manual has to say about them. Lots and lots of settings in there! (link is the 3.6MB PDF owners manual from Alpine's web site). 2. Deaden. Even if it's a minimal job, if done right will audibly improve your SQ. The Second Skin door speaker pad kits are getting pretty decent reviews. Think I'm going to try them out. Current price is around $25 which included 2 pads and 2 sheets of 11x11" damplifier. 3. Use MDF spacers for the mids. Really. Enjoy!
