Exactly! I mean... wtf? Half the people that could be "voted for" have been banned, or aren't even around anymore. The people that acutally help out here and do something worthwhile don't get their post count up to the top 50 at all. Goob took a good concept... and turned it into a shitty poularity contest. Leave it to the owner of the site to care less about it than his bank account.

i think the voting system is a bit flawed, i like the voting option, however i think certain members should be nominated by the existing mod team

That would still leave it up to a popularity contest. It shouldn't be about that at all. It should be about who is going to trully make a difference. Back when we petitioned for the mods we had a core group of people here on the site that worked hard to help others and were highly intelligent and talented installers and professionals. That was the time to start the mods and have a core to show and lead the way to newer groups of mods.
i just like the freedom allowed to us in the lounge.
If i was moderated all the time i would come here, and i realize that would not be detrimental to the site in the least, but i do think that often people are drawn into my inflammatory threads and end up sticking around even after they realize what i am. So it probably ends up helpful to goobs bottom line. More regulars has to equal more monies.
Or maybe I'm just a self aggrandizing douche.

thats where the nominations come in. the current mod staff should nominate those they think would make a difference and go from there. discussing it wont really make any sort of difference tho so im gonna shutup now
Then you'd just have everybody *** kissing, and the mods would nominate people they know who wouldn't get voted in over themselves. That's why presidents don't nominate their successors. Too many holes in that idea.

well its partly wrong, but i assume the mods would make a good choice.
I still have never heard a good reason why the current system is so bad. All the complaining usually comes from the people who aren't eligible.

well when 5 of the 10 mods dont even visit the site they are a mod on it is a problem, i have a good feeling several peole will be re voted in that are not active here yet again, or worse they are permabanned.
