What's your opinion on upside down subwoofers?

I got my car in the shop right now gettin it installed..

but he says for a small trunk and the large ports etc.. that i should do upside down subwoofers.

but im not sure on the aesthetic appeal...

do you guys think it looks off like that also?

i dont mind sacrificin a little appeal if it will sound good.

am i going to lose any sound quality with it being upside down?

Only reason this will help is if the box is too small and it will give you a little more volume because theres no sub displacement.

I heard its the same... But do not have any first hand experience someday im going to have a set up of one inverted woofer and the other normaly placed in

As long as there's no mechanical noise from the motor, it's fine. I've inverted a few, and nothing, then a couple different subs that had mechanical noise that drove me crazy.

Won't be any difference. Since it's being done in a shop I hope they wire them out of phase.

Does upside down firing work in sealed boxes to? or only ported?

Nothing changes at all regarding the actual function of the sub. Most likely the reason the shop recommended it is that the motor of the sub would get in the way of the ports if mounted normally. You don't even need to wire them out of phase if all of them are mounted that way.

it is cool if they look decent that way-

i have an inverted mtx 9515 in my explorer (and two not inverted)

Well, your opinion. You're entitled to it and there are many that disagree. My opinion is that 95% of the "cool" mods done to cars these days are lame, my opinion is not shared by everyone.
