What's with all the "SQ" posts?

(except in cases where SPL is another choice, like subwoofers)

I just see ALOT of posts saying "I want the best SQ amp I can get" or something to that affect. I mean, it's not like everyone would want to get a crappy sounding item...so why the need for emphasizing SQ all the time. Kind of redundant to me.

I actually want to compete in it. Also, as I grow older I find more practicality and interest in sound quality that being loud and that's it.

Right, I understand that. But, how many parts are marketed as being "loud" anyway. I don't think I'd even consider "loud" when giving advice, unless a person specifically said "I don't care about the sound quality, I just want it to be loud". Know what I'm saying?

Truly, SQ (to me) would be a default thought when buying/recommending equipment. I just see it as a trend to start calling everything out as SQ. Granted, "trend" is a bad word, but hopefully you understand what I'm saying.

With all the high power amps and speakers it is very easy to have a loud "SQ" system. Getting the front stage done correctly is by far the hardest part of any sq system. But like someone said before why would you not like a great SQ system that has the ability to really play loudly.
