man why not get a honda acord or somthin? they are pretty relaiable and i think they look hella better.
Ouch... Triple scratch the neon. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif or is that quadruple? Why does it show sag 3 with two post counts? And neon's are pieces of poo honestly they came in the shop all the time with problems. Its like an every other day thing for there owners and then they eventually get rid of em. Go after a used honda civic coupe or something along those lines will hold up a lot better and also would probly be better for your size.
agreed there. i rebuilt the ****** in my 97' dakota mainly for the upgraded power it'll have by years end though:naughty:. on a note of the window reg's, anyone know how to fix them for power windows lol. neither of my front windows work and tis hot in texasThey have bad headgaskets, bad window regulators, and the typical bad dodge transmissions.
It will not end up being a budget car in the long run.
I wish I could... Nobody wants either of them. They've been a hard sell even at a huge loss to me.Well, why don't you look at selling all of your cars and get a good, cheap, reasonable car ?
I've got a 2003 Dodge Neon SXT. It's an ok car. I had the transmission rebuilt at about 66,000 for $100 under Dodge's 7/70,000 powertrain warranty. The only other problem I've had is the alternator belt breaking only after we replaced it with an Autozone belt, gotta go to the dealer to get the belts or they'll squeek until they eventually fly apart. My Porsche is hella expensive to run (needs a $2500 service every 30,000 miles on top of normal wear and tear), and I need a winter beater... So ive been lookin'
A friend of mine has a '97 16 valve (DOHC) 2.0 Dodge Neon. It's an auto ******, I hate autos, but it's in decent shape and he's gonna fix the timing belt, and put some new tires on it and I can have it for about 1000-750 bucks. I will HAVE to customize the seat because my knees are ON the dash....
Waht is everyone's experience here with Dawdge Nehons?
Man I wish I could get a car that new... I sure as hell wouldn't spend it on a Neon though, sorry...I've got a 2003 Dodge Neon SXT. It's an ok car. I've given my car hell since I've had it and it's held up fairly well, except for the transmission which wasn't really a big deal since it just cost $100. I'm not sure about the reliability for the '95-99s though.
YOu were baked, lol!well maby i am one of the lucky ones out there.I have a 1998 dohc neon and the only real thing that went wrong with it was a head gasket at 120,000k then i blew it up at 264,000k.
It did me very well and like i said nothing major went wrong with the motor besides the head gasket.
I blew it up cause from day one it never seen a easy day.
So about 7 1/2 years i put about 600 dollars into it. Befor it blew up about 2 months ago. so i just rebuilt the motor and she will be good for another few years forsure. I drove it every winter since new and it does not have one spot of rust on the body and the underside hardly has any rust.
Now I know alot of people have problems with them cause there is so many out there. Yes they have a problem with head gaskets and there is a fix any motor rebuild shop will redo the surface of the head and the mopar stock head gaskets blow anyways.
but 7 1/2 years and only put about 600 dollars into it. I would not say they are junk.
Also with rims and a body kit, lowered they look far from ugly.
Also neons dont die more then anyother car. change you oil and do regular maintence and you will have years of trouble free driving.
EDIT. and the reason it blew was my water pump went on me on my way home and I was baked so I just keep puting water in it and it could not take the heat. The pump sezised up and jumped it timing and bent the valves.
So really only damaged the head. Could have just redone the head but with 260+k i just rebuilt it.
Lol, I don't blame you. My parents bought me the car though, so I'm not complaining. I like it though, it's good on gas and gets me where I need to go.Man I wish I could get a car that new... I sure as hell wouldn't spend it on a Neon though, sorry...
****, I'm sick and tired of *not* pimpin.
Yah, I LOVE the Tbird/Cougar/Lincoln Mark VIII chassis //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/inlove.gif.6846f78f06b405429ef3a00129788a2a.gif but they have their own set of problems. I almost picked up a pristine Cougar for 2300 last year but nixed it b/c of gas prices... heh, oops... I ended up spending 5k on a POS.Stay away from them.
Look at a T-bird. Seriously. Large, easy for your size. Nice DD. Prob get one for 2k with decent milage.
