Personally id love to try a pair of the new XXX Soundstream 18s or some Solo X 18s. But if you wanna use the "norm" subs, id go with nightshade 18s

i think its 2 different sounds, im not saying BTLs can't don't sound good, and im not saying XXX can't get loud, but if i had to scale them both i'd say BTLs are 60% spl 40% sq and XXXs are 60% sq and 40% spl, just too different subs.

i dunno what your budget is but i THINK audioque still has the hdc 18's for 250 a piece, if i was doing anything with 18's right now unless money is no object i'd jump on that

Well, I'm getting $3000 next summer, and I want to know what I want long in advance. I think that $3000 might be enough for 3-4 18s in a wall with the electric to match them.

Go with DD's man...they'll last you forever and get loud! I got a buddy who has had coil rub on one of his 9515's and that's been goin on 4-5 years now,still sound great... and recones are well priced!
