hey, i was looking to get a pair of 12" alipine type-r's with the dual 4 ohms, and i was wondering what amp i should get to power them. I initally wanted to get a 5-channel amp so that all of my speakers would sound better. Right now i have a '99 eclipse with stock speakers, which do not sound that great, which is why i first wanted to get a multi channel amp, and maybe later some speakers. Anyway, what should i do about powering those 2 subs? I've looked a lot at the JL 500.5 but it just seems to cost so much more then the rest, and I'm not sure if 250watts is enough for those subs. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif I thought about getting 2 amps, and connecting them, but I'm not totally sure on how to do that either, the guy at a local car place said they had to be tuned together and all. anyway, any help is greatly appreciated:cool:

alright, so how would i go about getting them hooked up then? and also, are alpine amps good? any other brands that you would recommend?

those are some good choices, the US acoustic n the JBL 600.1

i would say don't get the 4 channel one yet if you are going to power the stock speakers with it. The only thing you might do is blow the stock speaker or you won't be able to play them as loud as you are wiht the HU. Just save the money, n get it when you change the speakers

which leads me to the question, are you using your stock HU?

nope, i have a sony xploid deck, its a few years old, but it can still handle an upgrade in speakers, and some nice bass. I'm thinking about getting 2 of the 10" subs instead, just for space sake, (i don't need to blow my ears either:D and a MRV-F340 for the 4 chan, and a MRV-T420 for the sub, and bridging that, so its 600watts. hope that is a decent setup. I want to get the amp now, because as soon as i get the money, i will upgrade the other speakers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

hmm lol, i clicked those links, enter code? enter manufacturer? not too sure what all that is, anyway, do you think that this is a good setup for me?

one last question, or so i hope:

i ordered the 2 alpine 10's (2 ohms + 2ohms) and now im going to make a custom box. I know that you do not just double the size when there are 2 subs in the box, but I'm not real sure of what I'm supposed to do:confused: the suggested size for one is .5-.8 cubic ft. but what should i do for both? anyway..one more thing...what is the best way to seal the box? somewhere i saw silicone is good, but im not sure on that. Thanks for your time again, you've been lots of help:)

per chamber? meaning seperate the 2 subs with a board right in the middle? like one box, with a board in the between somewhere in the middle (makeing 2 "chambers")?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

yup, thats the best way to do it! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

make sure that the divider is exactly in teh middle tho... you want your airspaces to be identical...
