I guess you are arguing that a sport is only good if it provides you with the ability to get drunk. Wow, sounds like fun.

And, actually I don't get drunk on the course, I was just letting you know it could be done. I have 3 or 4 beers and try to hit good golf shots, however rare they are.

It might be that I don't find hockey interesting because I don't care to understand its nuances. But this is probably the same for you with golf. The first time you hit a 7-iron 160 yards right next to the pin = hooked. Especially if you've tried long enough to know how rare but satisfying that is.

Plus we have no ice rink near me in FL.

no its not.. Figure it as 5 hours of entertainment.. It isnt that bad at all. The initial club investment can be high, but 90% of the people that play the game with $1,000 clubs would do the same with $200 clubs.

I'm proof of that. Started with a K-mart set of odd numbered only irons (9, 7, 5 etc) & woods, probably about $120, played in my sneakers, and shot an average of about 76 at my local par 60.

Decided I loved golf, bought $600 irons, a $300 driver, individual wedges at about $100 each, $140 putter, 3 & 5 woods at about $180 each, nice Callaway bag, Nike shoes ... and now I've lowered my average score to about a 76. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I've also played rounds with just a putter, sand wedge and 6-iron ... and shoot about a 76.
