What the hell is this?

I have a 99 Ford taurus with a 1000 watt Kenwood amp and 2 12 inch kenwood subs. When i first installed the system ( A little over a year ago) It sounded absolutly amazing...

But since then i've had a few power issues where it seemed like my subs wernt getting enough power. I invested in a 1 farad capacitor and that seemed to fix the issue. but for some reason its happening again. I thought it might be my alternator but that is cranking out 13.68 amps

Then i checked the battery... it wasnt that either. I bought a Optima Yellow cap battery and installed that and its still not hitting the lows that it needs to.

(Brief description of subs) my radio goes up to 50. I usualy listen to it around 30-40 which is pretty loud.

right now when i crank my system up to around 10-25ish then the bass vs highs is perfect. It sounds exactly how its supposed to.

When i crank it up past 25ish then the highs start drowning out the bass and the subs almost sound like they're hollow... its a weird sound, idk... i cant really describe it.

If it helps im running this through my Ipod via a AUX Cable.

Your alternator is only putting out 13.68 amps? I'd get a new alternator then..

Let me get this straight, you added another battery so your subs can hit the lows better?

I'm going to take some batteries out because mine is a low end monster //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

he probly means volts ya douche

this will happen when running an ipod via audio output.

If the ipod is being used as a storage device rather than an auxiliary audio source, then that's different.

Use a cd and try again.

the cap is just a draw, 13.6v is probably fine as your computer is probably telling your alt to charge that, I bet if you checked it when it was 20* out it would be over 14v. Get rid of the cap and upgrade all your charging system wires. Big3. Whats the voltage at the amp? What size wire to your amp?

I bet it's because your stereo sucks.
thiss. and check your voltage at your amp with a dmm and such, make sure your running your subs at the ohm load that you intend to. but i would think this has to do with some faulty tuning somewhere. improper gain settings or something. make sure the subs are in phase with each other too if they are in a single chamber box
