What price range components will give me this level of SQ?

I dont have too much experience with hearing amped component speakers in cars.

I have a question for some of you who do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

In my house i have an old fisher home stereo reciever which is 150w x 2 channels. It is hooked to a set of tower speakers that came with it. They have 3" tweeter, 4" midrage and a 12" papercone/cloth surround woofer. I would be satisified if i could get the same level of SQ in by truck as these things can produce when im sitting in front of them. The towers are about 2ft^3. The towers have a freq. response plot on them stating that they have fairly even response from about 45-20000hz. They dont have near the low end of per say my truck but I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how much id have to spend or what "quality level" component speakers I will have to get to get the same sound quality in my truck.

I have never heard a deck/speakers with the impact of my home setup, and I am wondering what it actually takes to sound like this.

If I dynamatted the doors and i have my 75w 2 channel autotek to run them with would some cheap JL TR series sound just as good as what im hearing at home or do i need to look at something in the 200$ range, or is it just not possible to get the same sound in a vehicle?

Home audio and car audio are on two completely different levels. Due to the reflective nature of a vehicle, the often poor speaker placement, the increased level of obstructions (legs, consoles and the like), etc etc....it's often pretty hard to get the sound quality in a vehicle of even most moderate home systems. A car is, basically, one of the worst enviornments to install a stereo if sound quality is your goal. Excluding the extremely extravagant car audio setups, most car systems will be easily bested by a moderate bookshelf system any day of the week in sound quality and imaging. Just a function of the enviornments, plain and simple.

That said....what exactly are you wanting in the sound quality? The tonality? The linearity? The imaging?

Well I'm going to agree w/ Squeak here. The closest I've heard as far as coming close to home audio sound quality is in a few vehicles using HLCD's. And that was imaging only. There are way too many factors going against you in an automotive enviroment to expect the same sound quality. But I guess that's why I'm still doing it after 16 yrs. I love the challenge.

BTW deadening the doors is a step in the right direction. And with your budget you can get a very nice sounding set of components. Also many people aren't fans of them but a set of imaging tweeters in your A-pillars will help bring the soundstage higher and will be more natural to your ears. CDT makes several different sets varying in price. I love mine.

I've been in a few cars that sounded as nice as any home setup I've heard, but they were also full blown comp. sound quality cars.
That's why I said: "Excluding the extremely extravagant car audio setups"
