not neccessarily better sound... class D can't be used with mids and highs, cause distotion would be audible (I think that's what people said).Originally posted by FLEX4U18 so basically you guys are leaning more towards a class d amp for better sound?
Like it was stated earlier, class D amps are good only for subs because of the limited frequency response range it will produce. Alot of people consider them ideal for subs because of there low current draw required to produce a set amount of power. You should also know that some people also considers class d's not to be very clean amps for sq, so depending on what you are trying to do, you should take a listen to both and weigh the pro's and con's of both. Me personally I like class d's for my subs even tho I'm not running one now.....Hell I'm not running anything right now seeing as how I'm in the process of trying to decide on what type of car I want to buy, and yes I am one of those people that look at the car and think about what type of system I can put in it first.....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gifOriginally posted by paikiah not neccessarily better sound... class D can't be used with mids and highs, cause distotion would be audible (I think that's what people said).
it's got more to do with drawing less pwoer from the alternator. The class D topology require less power than traditional A/B amps to achieve the same amount of power.
not all are. US Amps Tube amps, Zapco C2k line, Brax, Tru Technology, Arc Audio are all class a/b but aren't to inefficient.Originally posted by MaXiMa also the A and AB classes are very inefficient the class d's are very efficient
ah, all high end SQ amps...Originally posted by bumpin_blazer not all are. US Amps Tube amps, Zapco C2k line, Brax, Tru Technology, Arc Audio are all class a/b but aren't to inefficient.

good post except the error on the c2k 9.0. it's zapco's only class D amp other than the custom built and limited 4kw. it's a class D amp and ****ing fantastic sorry for the language but you won't find better IMO. the THD is lower than most people's mid/highs amp.... .05 at 2200rms underrated.Originally posted by paikiah ah, all high end SQ amps...
forgot about good ol' orion's..
the XTR2400..producing 2400 watts...can't imagine the draw on those suckers.
Brax...marvellous amps...but i've seen top end brax amp with a juggernaut...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
btw, the C2K 9.0 is also not class D? wow... if that is so, that measn the 4KWis also not class D... a 4000w non class D amp. Car would have to be practically MADE for the amp.
SO WHATS A GOOD CLASS D FOR ABOUT 1000W?Originally posted by bumpin_blazer good post except the error on the c2k 9.0. it's zapco's only class D amp other than the custom built and limited 4kw. it's a class D amp and ****ing fantastic sorry for the language but you won't find better IMO. the THD is lower than most people's mid/highs amp.... .05 at 2200rms underrated.

The manual says it can draw up to 300 amps....Originally posted by paikiah ah, all high end SQ amps...

no need for caps and price range?? what ohm of subs and all that stuff.Originally posted by FLEX4U18 SO WHATS A GOOD CLASS D FOR ABOUT 1000W?
i believe Class D is very inefficient when NOT being pushed, and class AB is ineffiicient WHEN being pushed hard....Originally posted by MaXiMa also the A and AB classes are very inefficient the class d's are very efficient

Incorrect.Originally posted by more_spl i believe Class D is very inefficient when NOT being pushed, and class AB is ineffiicient WHEN being pushed hard....
ok, big news to me again...Originally posted by jlaine Incorrect.
A/B Hybrids get more efficient as more of their available output potential is being used.
are sony's any good?Originally posted by GSteg class D amps are NOT just for subs. Class D in general does NOT have any frequency cut-off where they can't play anymore. Infinity made a class D full range amp a few years back. Blade also made amps that are Class D. obviously these amps have shorter pulses than most class D's nowadays.
even with the extra distortion of class D (as most say), i doubt its audible with the car environment and such. ears are much more sensitive around 3000hz than at 30hz. they (amp classes) all do the same thing, but have different methods of creating power.
