there isnt much difference between square waves and round waves, really. well, not an audible difference.

also, the real reason is that square subs are more efficient. by design a square fits into a square box more appropriatly, so they work together better, making use of all of the box space available.

think about a 10" round sub, and then a square sub with each side dimension 10" you gain the 4 corners of cone area
