What is optimal vs what is necessary

Naw he seemed like a nice guy, he wasnt the owner and it wasnt a big chain shop, he was just showing me his system cuz i asked haha, just raised some questions for me when i heard he had a 60 amp alt and he didnt seem to think that was a problem.

How long was the demo he gave you?

gotcha..One thing about the DD's..they are rated at 12v, which is one of the things to watch for when amp shopping. The reason I buy AGM Deep Cycle batteries is because they are so much more efficient than your regular "Starting Battery" You get the capacity of a much larger battery in a smaller case because the glass mat cells are much more densely packed in the AGM's. This also allows for quicker and deeper discharge and charge rates under heavy load for longer periods of time. The larger wire reduces resistance in the electrical system, allowing the alt and battery to efficiently transfer maximum current flow.

It takes power to make power...you guys just don't know what it was like 25 years ago trying to hustle big boat batteries and finding a truck alt that would fit your car...just to handle 1500 watts of Class A/B power, not to mention the $1 per watt cost for a decent amp.

You're right. 25 years a go I was born. lol.

Anywho, I think we all agree that you have to put as much time and money into your electrical as you hope to get out of it. Expensive? Yes... but I'd rather overbuild my elec for a smaller system than hope I'm ok with what I have. Besides, don't you want to KNOW you're getting full power from your amp? Afterall, you paid for all that power...

x2, doesn't hurt to add more power. I always go overboard with the charging system.

Couldn't agree more, you're likely damaging your equipment and for sure not getting what you should out of your amps if your electrical is lacking.

Heh, i get scared when my voltage goes below 13.6; Car @ idle on neutral my volts never go below 12.8 (this is where the batteries kick in).

So im safe to just pound at neutral? If what im told is right, then 9V and below is the 'lolsmoke' range
