What is clipping

clipping occurs when the gains on your amplifier are set too high.. essentially the amplifier receives a signal that is above its threshold and it produces noise. a simple way to set the gains are to set your hu to your listening level with the gains set all the way down. then gradually raise the gains until you hear the distortion, then reduce the gains back below that level.. thats the easy way to do it..

yep normal wave is round at the top and bottom, clipped wave is , well, clipped at the top and bottom, making it square.

here's the trick, though: a small amount of clipping is actually good for competition. a clipped wave of the same amplitude as a sine wave is 115% louder than the sine wave.
