What is an HD receiver??

Yes, newer HDTVs (unless denoted with HD-ready or HD Monitor) already have the HD tuner built in.

If you already have, or will be getting, a high-def subscription service to Time Warner, Direct TV, Knology, FiOS, etc..just get an HD Montior. Your cable box that you'll get with each respective company will be the receiver/tuner FOR your tv. 85% of people who buy HDTVs will never utilize the HD tuners built into them.

Oh, so for someone with a nicer, newer 1080p tv, they're useless??
actually nicer hd tv dont include them....

but your tv and mines do include them. and so do the same amount of 720p tv's

heres an example of a tv that pwns both of ours even if both where put together price wise. that is one of the nicer hdtv sets
