What if?

Well, if you had some way of matching the output levels from the amp (via DMM, for example), nothing bad would happen.
even if it wasn't gain matched - assuming the sub can handle that kind of power I don't think it would cause any major problems, but I bet it would sound like complete dung

I could see problems with the amps more than the subs. If they're not gain matched you could have one amp trying to drive the other. Even if they are gain matched you could have small differences in response.

I don't know if any of that will equal catastrophe, but I sure don't think it would be good.
