As for the amp determining the sound, you are correct, a pre/pro + dedicated amp will nearly always sound better than a reciever, but the differences are very subtle IMO until you spend the enormous jack it takes to buy Rotel or Classe. I agree my speakers don't compare well to some of the B&W speakers that cost twice as much, but you can't possibly say those B&W speakers sound twice as good. If you have the financial means to buy the very best you can be concerned with the smallest of nuances, but you will pay for that difference. My point is at any given price point the quality is virtually the same from brand to brand and it is simply a matter of preference. There are some that would argue Dynaudio makes better HT speakers than B&W, and for those that prefer Dyn that would be a factual statement. That's my opinion- it is not fact that B&W makes the most superior speakers ever- it is fact that they make some of them along with several other companies, and your opinion of the best can be different from mine and there is nothing wrong with that. Shit, some think Bose stuff is awesome- people that have never heard real home theater stuff....

[QUOTE="bikejunkie223, post: 2420972, member: 563147"] I disagree in the statement that B&W is in a different class, sure some of what they make may well be but the majority of what they produce is in competitive price class with a great number of speaker manufacturers like Paradigm. You are a B&W fanboi, so you are hardly objective on the subject. You prefer the sound of B&W, that's awesome, I am glad you have found what you like. I agree my speakers don't compare well to some of the B&W speakers that cost twice as much, but you can't possibly say those B&W speakers sound twice as good. If you have the financial means to buy the very best you can be concerned with the smallest of nuances, but you will pay for that difference.
