What HD and/or power adapter are you using with your Pioneer 6900UB?

So, I jsut went to put in my HD an hour ago, with my dad as a second pair of hands. Well...he blew the fuse for my cig lighters, and everywhere's closed now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif

So I have to wait till tomorrow when I can go get a fuse.

so where are you guys tapping into for power from the cigarette lighter adaptor? I'm assuming you're not actually plugging into the lighter?
Closest to where your power inverter is that's still accessable. Me? I have to run extra wire to the trunk, so I'm just scraping away some of the insalation a few inches back from the cig lighter, and t-splicing the wire for my extra cig lighter in.

My power inverter has a fuse on the power wire which I'd like to keep, and it's impssible to cut after it, as it's built on to the connector. So, I just bought an $8 12-volt jack, and I'm running it back to my trunk.

Hey 6900/690 owners....coupla questions:

1. Does anyone know what the sub preamp output voltage is? Same is the others (4volts supposedly)?

2. Is anyone using the built-in crossovers to setup frontstage and sub? Is it easy to dial in a good blend using just the head unit's crossovers?

3. What volume level do you find is the optimal to set at (optimal signal to noise) when dialing in the gain from your amps? I haven't tried to push it much past 40-45 so far...

4. Is anyone concerned about leaving a portable drive in their car full time in hot weather (outside temps here in LA can get up to 100-110 in the summer)?!

Well, my plans fell through for tonight, so I ran to Wal-Mart and got my fuses. Some birthday this is, huh? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Asfor leaving the drivei n the hot weather being bad? Nah. The 2.5" drives are MENT to be portable. Vibration/Shock resistant, heat/cold resistent, water resistant. Not PROOF, but made to handle it better.

SUCSESS!!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fro.gif.c695f1f814b01c4ad99fe7f8cccadd29.gif

I have a very ghetto set-up for now. Waiting for my sub to come in, need to build it's box, and then waiting for the amp so I can build the amp rack, where the HU will be stored.

Right now, the power inverter, extra 12v socket, and HD is in the glove box. Tight fit, but that's prbably better, as the HD isn't bouncing all around before I can secure it down.

The inital seek time is kind of a *****, but I can survive. If I ever for some reason need music in less than 30 seconds, I have my 1GB flash drive and some CDs in the car.

Must say I'm loving it.

I took pics, but they're usuless. Can't tell what's what.

When I redo it, I'll talk better pics for people that need help. It's really simple.

Defientlly recommed this to everyone with the USB connection //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/suave.gif.858fc102f7646e678ee8af7e1fbc41d1.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

AltarCrystal -

Congrats on getting it up and running!!! I'm looking forward to commuting this morning with my whole collection on the drive - it's gonna be sweet!

Yeah, I guess it was a problem with my DMM, I think it's labeled wrong //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif. I triple checked the settings, even referred to the manual before I tested it the second time, but still blew the fuse.

Used my dad's, put it on the exact same setting, and it worked fine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif.

Like I said, I'll post pics of how I spliced the wire in with the existing cig lighter line, expecially when I do it CLEANLY. This set up I just did will only be lasting for maybe the next 2 weeks, until I get my sub, amp, and build my amp rack and box.

Also, the cig lighter I spliced into is still usable. I just tested with my cell phone car charger, works perfectly.

I love my 690. I feel they could have done some things different with the display, I"d love a visulizer that also displayed the song name and artist, but I can live without it.
Altar: Can you explain further what you mean by this? Sorry, I'm a noobie. Does the 690 not have RMS (I think that's what it's called?) for radio stations? Or are you refering to the hard drive?

I just mean a visualizer (shuch as this

) that, on top of that or some place, displayed the song name and atrist, like it does for normal backgrounds.
