What happened to Juggs and HCCA's???

Ok, I haven't been in the car audio scene since about 6 or 7 years ago until recently. There seems as if there are a LOT more brands out there that are selling bad *** amps and subs, etc. When did all this take place? SPL used to be run by Juggs, stroker's, shocker, HCCA's, what happpened? And when did it become normal to have a 2K and 3K RMS amp?? Where have I been. Car audio has come a long way in 7 years.....

Yes it has. There are still some hcca's floating around. Alot of hybrid's though i dont much care for. Shockers are still going. I just saw a jugg on ebay a little while ago tonight. Still around but there are alot of new stuff out there.

Your not shitin' dude. I've come to a strange observation that a lot of the new stuff is being made in the US. And there's a TON more manufactor's putting out good stuff than before.

Juggs are still around, but they are expensive. My local audio shop has been trying to sell two 12" Juggs for the longest time, they can't seem to move them. Haven't even bothered asking their price.

I guess i missed out on the Olden days of SPL.. There is a shop near a college my cousin attends.. my Cuz went in and was shootin the breeze with the owner (dude in his early 40s). He was singing high praises of his JL Equip and got to tellin my Cousin about his "Record install" it was like 8 JL 15's back in the late 90's.. and he said it metered 161DB in the port.. in his Camper shell bedcut.. Of course my Cousin called BS.. and he bet my Cousin that he hasnt heard anything nearly as loud as that.. Im cousin calls him on it, and the guy offers to meter him for free... Mind you the guy owns an OLD A/C mic of some shit..

My cousin puls around with his 4 DD 1515's 10cube half wall. and 3000watt MTX amp and the dude puts up the Meter.. 1st run my cousin belts out a 159.9db at the passenger windshield on this guy's meter.. The guy nearly shits a brick and wants to sit in his truck.. They listen to a few snippets of songs at full tilt and the guy concedes that my cousin is louder than his record install.. made me chuckle because my Cuz has never metered higher than 147DB.. and i metered last at 146db.. Guess it awoke the old man's eyes to the evolution of the caraudio industry and Meters

I know these changes where strange to me at first. I had 6600 watts in 99 but now people are running 14000 and 22000 in cars, its nutz.

the problem with juggs is that they have not modified the design since its creation, just added chrome which is why they aren't as popular
