As the title says, also, what are your normal speeds of downloading and what type of connection do you have?

I have a 512Kb connect, soon to be a 6Mb connection. I use LimeWire, and Utorrent. I get anywhere from 40-65Kb/s downloads, some times as low as 15Kb/s for the whole file.

What do you use to download?
Umm...the internet?!?

On this old ragged dinosaur of a computer (And I mean dinosaur, ladies and gents) I have cable via Comcast.

My average downloads range from 225Kb/s down to some I have seen as low as 45Kb/s.

I reckon it depends on the source. Fast internet connections do not guarantee fast downloads....

^ Very true. I can get higher speeds while downloading from websites, but when downloading a music video or the like, I can get very frustrated at times because of slow downloading.

I wish I had a T3 connection too, but then I wouldn't have a computer to use 'cause all the harddrives would be too full. I don't think it's the port, nor my ISP, I can download a file, and then start the next download and it'll only run at 15Kb/s, and that's using the same port, and the same software.

I use uTorrent and

My ISP implemented this bandwith shaping software at the server level (bastards) which initially REALLY hurt my download speeds. Went from 200Kb+ to about 15kb. Good thing about uTorrent, is it has protocol encryption, which helps allot. Now on my 3mb cable connection I can get speeds 150kb+ if i' m lucky on well seeded torrents.

i'd switch ISP's if they did that to me.
I would, but Atlantic BB is the only high speed ISP's in my area..unless I went to Satelite...which is more expensive. I actually did call them and raised hell when they first started doing it. On my 3rd call, I finally got the call center supervisor, who stated that the decision was made by the "higher ups" and he would have to contact them and call me back. Never called me back, and I forget his name. He gave me all this shit about how file sharing hogs 80% of the network, which may be semi ture, but really not my problem. I responded that I was an independant film maker, and use it to transfer legal shit. I basically told him that they were preventing me from sharing legal material at the speeds advertised. To that he did'nt have an answer.
