I coat the terminals under the hood in petroleum jelly. I'd do the ones inside the cabin too if I thought it necessary

I'm talking about the ground terminal on the frame of the vehicle
I understood. I use the same terminals under the hood, but if you're grounding to the frame from within the car it shouldn't get much exposure.

I've used petroleum jelly because it's what I've had on hand and it's better than nothing, but I'm going to have to agree with tc300; dielectric grease would be the proper thing to use

 
Grease collects dirt and debris..High gloss paint /paint or plasti dip sounds like a winner..There is also a spray at Orileys/Autozone for batt terminals that will work very well also
