what do people prefer for bass a sealed box sound or ported box sound

I think for more bang for the buck the ported sound would be the way to go just for the fact of physics of how the box is which is more output right.Sealed box sounds good but not the same output as a ported box.

Well, a sealed enclosure is much more controlled than a vented enclosure. You can get the same sound from a vented as from a sealed, except a sealed enclosure naturally has a higher response at lower frequencies (but those frequencies are lower than the human ear can hear.

Also, vented enclosures have more response around their tuning frequencies, but at times it can have a slightly lower response at other frequencies compared to a sealed enclosure.

But, it depends on the design, the construction, and the sub itself.

That is a fair generalization there, but not always true.

Yea i really dont understand how someone can ask what sounds better, something sounding good is totally subjective to the user, just because i saw ported boxes sound just as good does not mean it will to you.

I am willing to bet more than half the peoples systems on here that sound "good" to them would make me want to cry. In the end its all your tastes, why not build both and find out for yourself.

I prefer to have the roof of boom and actually mount my sub to the roof of my car. Gets me the mad dbzzzzz and the womens dig it too.
