Oh well, not what I expected. The shop was supposed to fiberglass them, but the guy who gave me a quote (of $70) didn't know what was involved or what he was talking about; when the people who actually do the install got there, they were like "fiberglass??? In this weather??? [etc]" So basically what they did was mount the qforms on the door (check my gallery). Can't hardly open the glove box, and when you feel the air from a speaker right on your leg, it kind of makes me uncomfortable cause I don't wanna block it. Also the passenger side rattles like hell on bass. The driver side is perfectly fine with regards to rattling; none whatsoever. However, how they positioned it, I loose a lot of treble and it just feels like a midrange/bass set. Also, they threw away the unused stuff from the cdt set which I was mad as hell about especially since I'm not happy with the current setup. Basically they flush mounted the tweeters in the qlogic qform and used the qform-supplied grilles and not the cdt grilles. So when I went back today and said I need that stuff back, I bet the guy hated me cause he had to go through the garbage. And not a garbage can; a big outside-in-the-alley-type garbage thing. Got the grilles back (dirty as hell; snow/dirt/mud on em) but couldn't find the surface mounts for the cdts. Well, $150 went to waste. I'm thinking of mounting the 6.5 in the door and surface mounting the tweeter. The only reason I got the kick panels was cause my doors took 4x6s. Coincidentally/(un)fortunately, today I found a thread on another forum of a guy who fit 6.5's in his car doors (same make/model/year as mine) just by taking out some styrofoam piece. I just bought this tool set since the only tools I had were a screw driver and some scissors; now I'm gonna try to take off the door panel, and hopefully it will fit with no permanent modifications to the door. Also, now the passegner and driver side have the small panel-things that cover up the screws on the inside missing...and they left a lot of this blackish glue-type stuff poking between the edges of like the window controls/driver side. Being the somewhat audiophile-ish person I am, I really can't go for this current setup. I didn't buy some $150 dollar speakers just to have them give the same sound stage as my $45 4x6s. oh well. so anyone know how I can get some surface mounts for the cdt cl-61s?
