what are 3 things

have a decent processor, if you're running a 32-bit OS then have 2 gigs of ram (can't read more than 3), 64-bit run at least 4 gigs of ram, make sure your cooling system is good, if you must download use torrents and get on a good private tracker and always wait for people to confirm the files are working, if you bought your computer clean out all the bundled software it came with and make sure you don't have any programs you don't need running in the background, get a girlfriend that puts out and stay away from ****...there's a lot you can do

and to whoever said switch back to XP, i have vista ultimate and it runs fine, you just have to have a computer that meets the requirements, and SP1 helped fix a lot of the bugs too.

i save all my music, movies, and pictures to an external hard drive to keep the internal one free. it seems to be working good for me along with virus protection, no ****, and regular updates.

1. Regular Spyware/Adware removal, defrags, and registry cleaning.2. Yearly defrags and updated drivers.

3. Upgrades (obviously)

4. Eliminate unnecessary services and programs.
YEARLY DEFRAGS?!?!?!?! YEARLY???????????

i defrag once a week, lol.

People always forget to use "Disk Cleanup" as well, normally you run Disk Cleanup and then Defrag right after.

Disk Cleanup is right in the same tab as Defragmenting.

start>all programs>accessories>system tools>disk cleanup

also, if you REALLY wanna get shit cleaned up, you can can set ALL your virtual memory away (set it to 0mb) then defrag and then reboot, then reset your cirtual memory to whatever you want.

Memory is by far the biggest upgrade you can make to increase system performance overrall. Especially moving from 512mb to 1gb or to 2gb and it's pretty cheap too.

also, you can go to start>run>type in "msconfig" and click the "startup" tab, you can disable programs that start up automatically when you boot your PC, almost any application you install will start itself once you boot up unless you tell it not to, this helps with bootup times as well.

gl!

reinstall operating system and then spend a day or two getting everything the way you want it

create an image file of the hard drive

every few months, rewrite harddrive with image and you will be golden
